“The Ovatars help us unlock value in every piece of clothing – no matter how small the quantity – by giving each item a chance to be seen, loved, and worn.”

Meet the Ovatars: How Otrium Is Giving Unsold Fashion Items a New Digital Life with AI
At Otrium, we’re always looking for smarter ways to make our mission – that every item of clothing should be worn – a reality. Today, we’re excited to introduce a bold new chapter in that journey: the launch of the Ovatars, our new AI-powered model system designed to transform how unsold fashion finds new life.
This project, built in close collaboration with digital agency DEPT®, uses cutting-edge generative AI to solve one of the biggest challenges in the fashion industry: how to showcase single, low-depth items that would typically miss out on model photography. With the Ovatars, we’ve created a scalable solution that boosts visibility and conversion – without the footprint of traditional photoshoots.
Let’s take a look inside.
How It Works
The process starts simply: fashion brands send us their unsold items – sometimes just a single piece in a specific size or color. These items wouldn’t normally get styled or shot on models, which limits their chance to be discovered.
Now, we photograph them in a basic flat-lay or ghost-style format. Then, using our Ovatar system, we digitally place them onto high-quality AI-generated models. The result? Every product gets its moment to shine – on product pages, in lookbooks, and even in animated ads.
These AI visuals are not just realistic – they’re consistent, stylish, and fully aligned with each brand’s aesthetic. It’s model photography, reimagined.

Designed for Impact
The Ovatars are seven distinct, AI-generated fashion models – each representing a unique customer segment, style, and personality. Meet the cast:
  • Ava – The Minimal Muse
  • Zion – The Street Prodigy
  • Luna – The Dream Caster
  • Kai – The Future Classic
  • Noor – The Power Pose
  • Sam – The Timeless Rebel
They reflect the diversity of our community while enabling faster, more creative visual production at scale.
And the first results are in:
  • +15–50% conversion uplift when items are shown on models
  • –40% reduction in photography costs
  • 0 items left behind – everything on Otrium now gets featured
This means fewer missed opportunities, more circular value, and smarter use of existing resources.
A Smarter, Greener Approach
The Ovatars don’t just look good – they do good. By reducing the need for traditional model photoshoots, we cut down travel, studio time, and resource use. This lighter digital footprint supports our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Plus, by improving exposure for overlooked items, we’re making fashion waste less likely and more preventable. Every Ovatar brings us closer to a platform where nothing goes unworn.
From Vision to Reality
“This project brings together AI, creativity, and our mission in a powerful way,” says Milan Daniels, co-founder of Otrium. “The Ovatars help us unlock value in every piece of clothing – no matter how small the quantity – by giving each item a chance to be seen, loved, and worn.”
We’re proud to have partnered with DEPT® to bring this vision to life. Their team helped build a seamless integration between our internal systems and the AI pipeline, allowing us to scale without compromising quality or brand integrity.
As we continue to grow, the Ovatars will become a cornerstone of how we move fashion forward – digitally, sustainably, and with purpose. They’re not just avatars; they’re storytellers for unsold style, advocates for a less wasteful fashion industry, and a powerful reminder that every item deserves a second chance.
A big leap for fashion, tech, and circularity. Onwards & upwards.
