Johan Cruyff was a football legend unlike any other, a visionary both on and off the field. From the start of his career, he challenged conventions, refusing to conform to what others told him to wear, do, or think. In 1979, driven by that same independence and creativity, he founded his own sports brand in Barcelona: Cruyff. His ambition was to redefine sportswear. Aiming to replace dull, functional gear with style, elegance, and intelligence.

In 1982, Cruyff partnered with Italian designer Emidio Lazzarini, blending performance with refined design. During the 1980s, the brand became a household name in the Netherlands and beyond, expanding into tennis, hockey, and casual fashion. In 1988, Cruyff outfitted the Dutch Olympic team for the Seoul Games, and top players like Marco van Basten and Dennis Bergkamp wore Cruyff shoes personally approved by Johan himself.

Yet the brand was never just about clothing, it was an expression of Johan’s philosophy. He believed life was about maximizing your potential, finding what you’re best at, and pursuing it with focus and style. As he famously said: “When you look good, you already stand 1–0 ahead.” For him, elegance was not vanity but confidence , an extension of who you are. His balance, grace, and awareness on the pitch mirrored the way he lived: precise, stylish, and purposeful.

Cruyff had a rare aura, a sense of light and presence that inspired those around him. He played with both heart and mind, seeing the game from above, always one step ahead. To him, football was more than sport; it was a form of art and intelligence.

Today, Cruyff embodies the same spirit: a lifestyle brand that merges sport, fashion, and luxury. Known as the originator of Football Luxury, it combines traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge materials and design. More than just apparel, it represents self-belief, refinement, and ambition.

Johan Cruyff understood that true performance comes from creating the right conditions, for yourself and for your team. His goal was always to elevate others. That vision lives on in the brand that bears his name: not just sportswear, but a philosophy: the art of being one step ahead, in life as on the field.
